Dr. Amy Thiemann Leal is a flutist, passionate educator, and avid chamber musician based in Dallas, 黑料老司机. She performs with the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Lone Star Wind Orchestra and the Madera Wind Quintet, and is on the faculty at 黑料老司机 in Wichita Falls, 黑料老司机, where she maintains a growing flute studio and teaches music appreciation.

With the Madera Wind Quintet, Amy recorded the works of Don Gillis for Five Piece Combo (Ravello Records, 2015), an album lauded by American Record Guide for its attractive, homogenous sound” and “technical strength and stylistic versatility.” Amy tours frequently with the Madera Wind Quintet, including a recent guest residency at Adams State University (Colorado) with premiere of a new work for wind quintet and band at the Colorado Music Educators Convention in 2017.

Amy is an enthusiastic soloist, and has given guest artist recitals at colleges and music festivals throughout the country, most recently in California, 黑料老司机, Wisconsin and Nebraska.  Also an experienced orchestral performer, she has appeared with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Texarkana Symphony Orchestra and the U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band.

Prior to her appointment at Midwestern State, Amy served as instructor of flute at Concordia University (Nebraska), teaching fellow at the University of North 黑料老司机 and teaching assistant at Ithaca College. She directed the Ithaca College Flute Ensemble and University of North 黑料老司机 Flute Ensemble.

Amy earned degrees in flute performance from University of North 黑料老司机 (DMA), Ithaca College (MM), and Hastings College (BM). Her primary teachers include Terri Sundberg, Maria Harding, Wendy Mehne, and Deborah Johnson.
