Kindly note the location of key pick-up on the following dates:

All students must present a photo ID prior to being issued keys. Examples of appropriate forms of identification include an 黑料老司机 ID, high school ID card, driver’s license, state ID, passport photo, etc.

To assist with traffic flow, students planning to arrive on Wednesday, August 19 will be required to schedule a move-in appointment. The link to sign up will be sent to your 黑料老司机 email on August 1. Please watch your email for this message.

Lastly, while the Legacy Commons Front Desk is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we encourage students to be mindful of arrival times after 9:00 p.m. and prior to 9:00 a.m., as to limit disruptions to roommates. Students arriving between these hours are strongly encouraged to communicate with roommates to avoid surprises.

Scheduling Your Move-In Appointment

Students planning to arrive on August 19 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. will be required to schedule a move-in appointment. These appointments help us avoid unnecessary lines, utilize our volunteers appropriately, and allow the process to move more smoothly overall.

Students arriving after 3:00 p.m. on August 19 are not required to schedule a move-in appointment.

Early Arrivals

Students required to arrive prior to their official housing opening date must complete the Early Move-In Request Form on Mustangs Link at least three business days prior to the requested arrival date. We encourage students to complete this form as soon as possible, as requests are not guaranteed. With the exception of international students, early arrival requests will not be granted prior to August 15, 2026.

Students approved to move in early will be notified via email.  Keys may be picked up between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on your approved date in the Legacy Commons.

Unless arrangements have been made by a sponsoring department, students approved to arrive early may be assessed a $20/night charge for any move-in prior to August 19. Early arrival fees will be billed directly to the student’s University account no later than August 30.

Student-athletes arriving early for pre-season workouts will receive information regarding their check-in location directly from your coach.  Please note that student-athletes are required to complete the Early Move-In Request Form on Mustangs Link at least three business days prior to the required arrival date.

Before You Leave Home

To expedite the move-in process, students need to complete three critical steps prior to arriving on campus.  Each of these items minimizes the amount of time you’re waiting in line and helps us reduce crowds during move-in.  Think of it as your 黑料老司机 “fast pass” opportunity!

Step One:聽 Complete your Mustangs Link Profile & Download the CORQ app

Step One:  Complete your Mustangs Link Profile & Download the CORQ app

Mustangs Link is the central calendar for student life on campus and includes a number of important resources to help you connect to others on campus.  CORQ is our mobile app for Mustangs Link.

Detailed instructions for setting up your Mustangs Link profile

Once you’ve set up your profile and downloaded CORQ, familiarize yourself with the CORQ app and where to find your Event Pass.  Your Event Pass is a QR code unique to you—many students will save their pass to their phone for even easier access.  Most events for the upcoming semester will require students to use their event pass to gain access.

We will be utilizing the Event Pass as your first step in the check-in process.  We strongly recommend that you save your event ID pass (which will have your name and a QR code) to your phone’s wallet for quick access.

Step Two:聽 Download or Update the 黑料老司机 Safety App

Step Two:  Download or Update the 黑料老司机 Safety App

Available for your Android or Apple device, download or update the free 黑料老司机 Safety App. Please familiarize yourself with the information and updates provided in the app.

Step Three:聽 Log Into Your Housing Portal and Verify Emergency Contact Information

Step Three:  Log into Your Housing Portal and Verify Emergency Contact Information
On August 1st, students will receive an email through their 黑料老司机 email address providing final move-in information.  Included in this communication will be information about logging into your where you will be asked to verify your emergency contact information.  If information is incorrect or has changed, you may make changes directly in the portal.  Once complete, our office will be notified that your approved information is on file.

Late Arrivals

Students arriving after the first Monday of classes (August 24, 2026) must notify the Office of Residence Life & Housing via email at housing@msutexas.edu to avoid cancellation of your room assignment.

Move In Volunteers

We know there are a number of Mustangs who enjoy helping others and welcoming folks to campus. If you or your student group is interested in volunteering during the move-in process, please complete the Move-In Day Volunteer form on Mustangs Link.

Move-in volunteers are able to arrive early on August 18 at no charge and will be provided a free t-shirt. Residence Life & Housing will also verify participation for those who need volunteer hours as a part of organizational membership.

Campus Mail

Students residing in Legacy, Killingsworth, or McCullough-Trigg Hall will have a post office box located in the Legacy Commons. Your mailbox combination will be emailed to your 黑料老司机 email address prior to move-in.

Students living in Sundance Court and Sunwatcher Village apartments will have a mailbox assigned to them in each of these respective complexes. Keys will be issued upon move-in.

Parking

Please note that the drop zones established during the move-in process are temporary. Students who park in these areas after move-in risk being ticketed by University Police.

On Wednesday, August 19, students checking in between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. will receive parking placards for their vehicles that should be placed on the dashboard of any vehicles at move-in. These are designed to help volunteers direct you to the appropriate unloading zone. Please note that these placards are only to help direct traffic on this particular day and are not an official “parking permit.”

Students should monitor their 黑料老司机 email for information about campus parking registration through University Police. Once a vehicle is registered, be sure to print the temporary permit and place on the dash of your vehicle until your official sticker arrives.

University Police will not be issuing parking tickets on August 19 unless vehicles are illegally parked in handicap spaces, fire lanes, or other areas of campus not intended for parking (e.g. sidewalks, etc.).  Students and families should also avoid blocking areas surrounding dumpsters to allow city sanitation employees access to these areas.

Information about parking rules, permits, and more can be found on the 黑料老司机 Police webpage

Liability and Insurance Considerations

Please remember that 黑料老司机 is not liable for loss or damage to items of personal property caused by residents or by occurrences such as flood, weather, or mechanical-related events which occur in University housing or on its grounds prior to, during, or subsequent to the period of the housing agreement.

黑料老司机 does not endorse any individual insurance program but strongly encourages students and families to explore protection options prior to arriving on campus.  Consider renter’s insurance or researching coverage that may be available through existing homeowner’s insurance or individual renter’s insurance policies. Policies for residence hall spaces are relatively inexpensive while offering peace of mind to families and students.

Programming & Social Opportunities

The fun begins on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. All students are invited to the traditional Welcome Home Ice Cream Social between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in the Legacy Courtyard. Following the Ice Cream Social, join us for RHA’s annual BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket) BINGO and continue the fun. This is a great opportunity to connect with old friends and for new students to begin meeting other students.

Mustangs Roundup is 黑料老司机's signature program designed to help new students learn all they need to know about 黑料老司机 before the first day of classes. Join us Wednesday through Sunday, to make sure you’re not missing out on the fun or the freebies!
